In class review of "Other Key Concepts" 3/7/2018 packet.  If not finished with the first section, it is tonight's HW.
 * In class, students completed Actvity #3: Surveying the Text.
 * Read and note taking the Op - Ed "Jim Crow Policing."

In class to day we started a lab. I'm calling it the ,"Making Cheese" lab. There are 4 stations around the lab tables where students do experiments and note the data.

In class assignment/packet: Defining terms, surveying the text, understanding key vocab and an Op-Ed column. Students working independently in class today.

Today the students were given a Speech by Winston Churchill, titled the "Iron Curtain" Speech. They were asked to make a list of geographic locations mentioned in the speech, and then were asked to mark them on the map that was also handed out in class.

In class today we took notes and reviewed the chapter on Acids and Bases.
These notes may be used on the test. TEST on Tuesday!!

In class today, students received a CSW Writing Rubric (a student-friendly version) that was used in the grading process for their most recent writing task, "Good Food/Bad Food."
  * Discussed last night's homework assignment.
  * Quick assignment on Google Classroom, Jim Crow policing: Who is Jim Crow? Students are expected to answer the posted questions.

In class today the students did the next page of notes in the," Post WW2 & Korea" packet. They then continued working with their study buddies on the Cold War Packet. These were turned in today. The students were also directed to listen to the Audio link that was posted in Google Classroom.

In Google Classroom, complete the posted assignment.  Read two of the Jim Crow stories and write two - five sentence summaries, please remember to include the impact that these stories had on you.  If not finished with this in class, it is HW.
In class Quickwrite assignment:
What do you know about racial profiling? What do think about it?
This assignment is worth 20 points, must be a minimum of one page long.  If not finished with this in class today, students may take this home to complete, to earn the full 20 points.

Ms. LeFrancois posted grades for the 1st grading period of 2nd semester.
In class the students were given a packet titled, "Post World War 2 and Korea Notes." They worked from the overhead and filled in notes on the first page. They were also given a "Cold War" packet , assigned new study buddies, and began working in the packet.

In class today we reviewed the, "Salts and Solutions 4.4 practice" worksheet and did an overview of H and PH.

New unit: Basketry - A coil basket project.  Must use at least 2 different colors, 4 inches tall and can use yarn, or materials from your house (i.e. fabric or ribbon) using either the figure 8, or last squaw technique.  
This assignment is worth 25 points.

In class today, Ms. LeFrancois collected binders and the, "Two Historical Narratives" worksheet. We then watched a portion of the series, Band of Brothers," and the students were asked to go onto google classroom assignment, "Band of Brothers" and answer some questions based on the video they watched.

In class today the students were given a packet titled, "Two Historical Narratives." The packet concerns bombing Japan during WW11. American perspective that was bombing was right, and the Japanese perspective that the bombing was wrong. They are highlighting the text for main points, talking with their study buddies, and then choosing which perspective they agree with. This should be finished in class today. If not, do for homework. They may be presenting in class later in the week.

In class today, the students finished their Matrix for analyzing the Americans reaction to the Holocaust, and organized the stamp binders which will be turned in today. Ms. LeFrancois has all the current grades posted, and anyone who wants to re-take the WW11 Europe quiz can do so by Fri., Highest attainable grade would be an 80%.

In class today, we went over the answers on the 6.3 Acid and Bases worksheet,
and we finished the back page of 6.1 Solutions, Acids, and Bases. We then started a Chapter 6 review titled, Mixed Review

In class today the students received a handout titled, "Matrix for Analyzing the American Reaction to the Holocaust." They read 4 different articles and filled out boxes concerning each reaction to the Holocaust. We will finish it in class on Monday.

In class today Ms. Lefrancois read the student an article in Up Front magazine titled, "The Code that Couldn't be Broken," about the Marine Navajo Code Talkers. They then watched a short video from a Code Talker himself, and were given a handout titled, Code Talkers Tell their Story." They students were asked to answer the five questions on bottom of handout.

Students have been given an extension for the Good Food/Bad Food outline and are working on their outlines in class today.  Students are encouraged to use the resources listed in Google Classroom.  This assignment is due by tomorrow. 
When the outline is completed, students are expected to begin writing the rough draft for the essay.
