Valedictorian and Salutatorian Selection
Board Policy
Board Policy 5127 states, “To honor superior academic achievement, graduation ceremonies shall include recognition of valedictorian(s) and salutatorian(s). Valedictorian(s) and salutatorian(s) shall be selected based on established criteria and procedures that use multiple measures of academic performance.”
Our System
Beginning with the class of 2017, the Valedictorian and Salutatorian selection will be based on a point system which includes three factors. [Class rank will still be determined by weighted, cumulative, academic GPA.]
1. unweighted GPA
2. credits above 230
3. rigor of courses
