Students unpacking and shared their experience from their overnight backpack trip this past weekend.
 
HISTORY
U.S. History/ Le Francois  In class today the students were asked to read pages 18-25 in their, "Free at Last" packet, and answer the questions on the handout concerning Confrontations. Packets will be stamped upon completion.
Next, students were asked to start the Google classroom assignment titled: Civil Rights Tombstone. The students
MAY NOT use Rosa Parks, or Martin Luther King Jr. as the mother or father of the civil rights movement.

Today the students were given class time to get caught up on missing assignments and complete anything that wasn't finished.

In class today, the students were given a packet titled, "9.2 Simple Machines."
Using the textbook, they were asked to find the answers and complete the first 6 pages in the packet.

Students fitted with backpacks and other hiking gear to prepare for this Friday's backpacking trip.  Ms Miller distributed a list of things to bring to school tomorrow to pack into backpacks and a list of things students need to wear Friday morning.
To Bring for Backpacks:
2nd pair of thick socks, Warm pants (sweatpants or fleece pants), Jacket and/or sweatshirt, Water bottle, Deodorant, Sunglasses.
To Wear Friday Morning:
Hiking shoes, Wool socks for hiking, shorts, T-Shirt, Long sleeve T-shirt over short sleeve shirt and a Hat.
 * If you would like to bring extra money or snacks, you may.  The group will stop for breakfast Friday and lunch on Saturday.

Today in class we watched a video clip about, "Little Rock Nine," and the students were directed to answer questions on a google classroom assignment concerning the video. They also should be finishing up, "Early Struggles," and "Movement of the Peoples." Those questions will be stamped in class tomorrow.

In class today the students were asked to use notes from Monday to complete the Chapter 9 packet on Work and Energy.

In class today, students reading Into the Wild. An in class writing prompt, must be a minimum of one page long (at this point in the school year, a page long is expected).
Reminder:
ERWC overnight backpacking trip is this coming Friday April 27th.
 
HISTORY

Mr. Frazier was the sub today. The students watched 30 minutes of a video called, "Eyes on the Prize," about a man named Emmett Till. They then worked on a google classroom assignment on Emmett Till. They then got a packet and were asked to complete pages 6 to 11, titled Early Struggles.
It is homework if they don't finish it in class.

Today in class we took a Chapter 9 pretest  on Work and Energy and then we took notes from the board, titled 9.1 Work, Power, and Mechanical Advantage.

Ms. Miller collected the permission slips packet for the ERWC overnight backpacking planned for Friday April 27, 2018.

In class today Ms. Le Francois went over a few more things then wrapped up the unit on the 60's. After break, she will begin a unit on the Civil rights movement.

In class today, students reading the book, Into the Wild.  Began watching the movie, Into the Wild.
Anticipation Guide questionnaire was turned in today for credit.

HW: complete any late work and turn in on Friday which is the end of the grading period! Bring IR book to class tomorrow. IR projects also due Friday!!

In class today Ms. LeFrancois collected the stamp binders and the students finished watched the historical documentary of the Vietnam war. She then showed them a brief clip on the Kent State riot and shooting and discussed it with the class.

In class today, the student worked more in there packets on the Vietnam was and watched a historical documentary with real footage and real letters from soldiers read out loud by Actors.

New Unit:
The book: Into The Wild by Jon Krakauer.  Students completed an anticipation guide in class, do you agree or disagree with the guide questions?  This guide is due by tomorrow!
Students received a packet of information about the upcoming backpacking trip.  In this packet is an explanation of trip information and behavior expectations of each of the students who will be participating. Also included is a contract and emergency medical release form that MUST be signed by parent/s and returned to Ms Miller by this Friday April 13, 2018.

today in class started performance task #2, reading and annotating articles.
HW: finish reading and annotating. Complete part 1: Research questions
 
HISTORY
U.S. History/Le Francois
Today in class the students were given a History blueprint handout titled, " Why fight The Vietnam War?" The packet contains snippets of Speeches from 4 leaders prior to the War in Vietnam with information as to why we went to war. The students are pulling out pertinent information from the speeches and about the leaders and filling in boxes.
Stamp Notebooks are due Thursday! Students should have 25 stamped papers.

In class today, students working on completing the Local Scholarship Application process.  If students have not yet submitted the application online, it needs to be done asap.  Please refer to the ERWC Google Classroom posting for instructions on how to submit.

Transitioning out of the 50's into the 60's, the students started a new section of study titled, "Origins of the Vietnam War." They are working from notes in a 6 page packet and writing down important information.
Next grading cut-off ends Friday. Last chance to turn in these next 3 projects. 1. Elvis, 2. 50's TV show, 3.Cold War Project

In class today the students were given two handouts titled, "Elvis Lesson American Segregation," and "1950s Elvis Lesson." We then watched musical performances by both white and black artists comparing the styles, and discussed Elvis Presley's influence over both. The students answered questions in the packet based on the music video's they watched.

Argumentative Essay Final Draft with the Works Cited is ABSOLUTELY, due this coming Friday, April 6!
Personal Information Essay (scholarship application) is due THIS Friday as well. This essay will be worked on together with Ms Miller.  It will need to be typed up and then attached to the Community Scholarship application.  This essay will be counted as a grade.
This week in class:
 * Students have begun the "MHS Community Scholarship Application" process.  ALL ERWC students are expected to complete this application process.  Rough drafts can be taken home for help from their parents.
 * Brainstorm (application questions) due tomorrow.
 
HISTORY
U.S. History/ LeFrancois:
In class today the students continued working on their 50's TV shows. They should have their Logo's and jingles done today and begin working on the scene which they will present in class. Presentations begin Wednesday.  
 
SCIENCE
Physical Science/ RolI  In class today we went over the Acceleration and Velocity worksheet that we started in class last week.
