Bring Your Own Device Policy
Mammoth High School has a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) policy that allows students to use their own devices during the day for educational purposes. Participation in the Bring Your Own Device program is not required.
GUIDELINES
- Devices must be in good working order and free of viruses or other malware. School-based technicians are not responsible for troubleshooting personal devices.
- Devices, both personal and district-owned, must be used in a responsible manner.
- Devices may not be used to disrupt the educational environment or violate the rights of others.
- Using the device to cheat, violate school conduct rules, harass/bully, or use the device for unlawful purposes will result in disciplinary actions.
- Students are not permitted to use their device to access inappropriate content.
- The district is not responsible for lost or damaged devices.
- Students are expected to exhibit digital responsibility and follow the MUSD responsible/acceptable use policy.
RESPONSIBLE USE
- Students are required to connect to the filtered MUSD Wi-Fi while on campus and are not to bypass or attempt to bypass any security measures.
- Whenever a student is on campus, the use of their BYOD device is for educational purposes. Streaming any media is prohibited.
- Students should create secure passwords, and do not share these passwords with others.
- Devices must be on silent unless otherwise directed.
- Photos and video are to be taken only when directed by the classroom teacher.
- Report any suspicious information to an adult.
APPROPRIATE USE
There are designated places and times for using devices on campus. Campus administrators and teachers have the right to prohibit the use of devices during certain times or during specific activities that occur during the school day.
GENERAL GUIDANCE
Mammoth Unified has put together some general guidance for families that choose to have their child bring a personal device to school to help with decisions.
Buy something middle of the road and lightweight. Do not spend so much money that it overly concerns you to have your child take it outside of the home. There are many mid-level devices that work well.
